What is a plover?

A small bird with a big idea about how different species — and different technologies — can work together.

01

Plovers and crocodiles

Plovers are small birds that have a symbiotic relationship with crocodiles. They eat bits of food stuck between crocodiles' teeth — essentially doing "dental work" for them and keeping their teeth healthy. Both benefit. Neither is diminished.

02

Robots and humans

We believe that robots should have a symbiotic relationship with humans. They should help us complete tasks that matter to us, and in return, we charge their batteries and continue to exist in our world. A relationship built on mutual benefit — not replacement.

03

Supporting wellness, not replacing purpose

Plovers will never challenge crocodiles' position as apex predators in the food chain — only support their wellness. Likewise, we believe in developing robots that do not take over tasks that humans love to do, like art and creating, but rather help us along the way to enhance our wellness and achieve our potential.

"Robots should enhance what makes us human — not replace it."
